Love Me More Than Anything Else In The World

Love Me More Than Anything Else In The World is a memoir by the Yugoslav-born star of Babylon 5 and Lost, the late Mira Furlan. The autobiographical work, which is already one of the best-selling books in Croatia and Serbia in 2022, tells the story of Furlan’s remarkable life and creatively acclaimed career. It also gives a moving and terrifying account of how she left the country with her husband, the director Goran Gajic, because of her principled stand against the ethnic violence that tore Yugoslavia apart in 1991.

Mira Furlan

Mira Furlan wrote “A Letter to My Co-Citizens” before leaving, which is widely regarded as one of the most powerful anti-war essays of the last century and a landmark account of the artist’s situation during a war. On both sides of the conflict, newspapers carried the article.

The Croatian National Theatre fired her as a result of a ferocious media campaign against her. Her primary “sin” was participating in the antiwar production of “Theatrical Illusions” (Corneille), which was chosen to compete in the festival’s main competition. Prior to the outbreak of war, she had been performing the play for a year.)

Immigrants Life of Mira Furlan

Mira Furlan and Gajic immigrated to the United States, where they established themselves in New York City and began a challenging immigrant existence. Furlan was cast in the cult science fiction television series Babylon 5 after making some difficult adjustments. She went on to make appearances in numerous Los Angeles stage productions and television shows, including Lost.

Furlan says that she wrote the book in a letter to her son, telling him that she wanted to tell this story to him: the story of his parents and their tortured country; the story of a life that had been torn apart by uncontrollable forces; the story of a constant search for identity, purpose, and direction in difficult circumstances; the story of emigrating to a foreign location; the story of lives being torn apart; the fragile nature of friendship and love; heartbreaking losses; new beginnings; expectations and disappointments; the story of America as seen through the eyes of a foreigner; a woman’

Mira Furlan went on to say that while she was laboring over words in a language she didn’t speak—despite the brazen pretense that she did—she had been trying to answer these unanswered questions: He had matured. In addition, The country they had once fled in horror and despair had changed into something else entirely: an unsettlingly similar one to America. The forces that drove them out of our homes have unquestionably won a global victory. They once faced those forces. They are now exhausted. The repetition wears them out.

Strangely enough, this book is changing into something else. It is no longer a book of past experiences from a faraway place and time. It is undergoing a radical transformation: a plea to the world and America.
